WELCOME TO
MY DESIGN WONDERLAND
Environment build
This project will be used for enriching my thesis.
My thesis is to use paper cutting to tell the story of a city. It will be a book. I created a persona called Mr.Paper. This book will talk about Mr.Paper's adventure in a city as a traveler. I hope my design will give people who fear of travel alone in a strange place some courage. I also hope people living alone in a new city can get some empathy from my design and feel more positive in their lives.
Mr.Paper's adventure story comes from my personal experience in Boston. In order to reduce the personal effect, I deliberately give a natural tone to the story. For example, I convert the story for my friend's wedding to a pumpkin story in the book. Besides my thesis design book, I also think about whether I can do a design to tell the background story, the story of my inspiration.
I am amazed by the tiny world in the kaleidoscope view. The reflection of the mirror image gives me the idea of creating a world where the story can happen. By changing the lens of it, the plots can develop one by one. It is also a good chance to continue to test different materials and projector use. For the dazzle project, I use hot shrink paper and red beans. I also consider other stuff like liquid ink, foil paper, and embossing powder, those materials that can bring more texture. I always think the environment is important for a design. So I also want to experiment with environment building to see whether I can build a mini world in a kaleidoscope and a huge world in a room space by using the projector.
The process of the experiment will continue in 4 weeks. This week is for story build and lens making.
